Recognised association

Recognised association Posted by M M A.
Dear Sir,
we frequently see the ward((Recognised association)) or((Recognised cause))....does this mean a common association or causation? or it include also uncommon causes or associations?

For example...caudal regression syndrome is a recognised feature of maternal DM........so we do know that sacral agenesis or caudal regression occur in diabetic mothers but it is rare.......so is it a recognised feature or not ??
Please in need for your notes..Dr Paul....Thanks.
