Dear Paul,

Kindly advise regarding the following question:

Option for question 14-14

A FSH level of 10.2 IU/L B Anti-mullerian hormone level of 2.8 pmol/L
C Total antral follicular count of 4 on day 3 of the cycle D Serum oestradiol of 300 pmol/L
E LH level of 2.8 IU/L

Which one is indicative of high ovarian response to gonadotrophin stimulation?

Answer given is B (AMH level of 2.8 pmol/L)

However, explanation stated that :

  • The following can be used to predict the likely ovarian response to gonadotrophin stimulation in IVF:
  • Total antral follicle count measured by TV scan on day 3 of cycle ≤4 for a low responseand > 16 for a high response
  • Anti-Müllerian hormone of ≤5.4 pmol/l for a low response and  ≥25.0 pmol/l for a high response
  • FSH > 8.9 IU/l for a low response and< 4 IU/l for a high response

Going through the above answers, there is no best fitted answer for the question. Please advice.

Thanks.
