24 A 32 year old woman attends the antenatal clinic at 20 weeks gestation. She is known to be a carrier of the factor V Leiden mutation but has never had a thromboembolic event. Her BMI is 29.ON THIS SITE EMQ QUESTION BANK-Ans-6 wks LMWH.

 

Dear Paul, Frequently,thistype of question asked in exam.Rcog guideline says---asymptomatic thrmbophilia (except antithrombin deficiency,homozygous Fvleiden mutation& combined defects),recommends 7 days postnatal thromboprophylaxis( or 6 wks if Fhx/orother risk factors). So above question ,should be for 7 days thromboprophylaxis.Would you clarify please.

Thanks - we have identified and deleted the question as it was uploaded incorrectly. The NOTES on thromboprophylaxis are correct and consistent with RCOG guidelines.
